Sampling Knowledge Hub
An initiative of the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Sampling is integral to epidemiologic study design, shaping analytic decisions, interpretation, and public health relevance of research findings. This initiative (completed in 2020-2021) aimed to establish the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics as a knowledge hub for modern sampling methods to improve population science and health disparities research.

We explored the theoretical and practical applications of modern sampling methods through four modules:

  1. Representative Sampling
  2. Hard-to-Reach Populations
  3. Population Size Estimation
  4. Internal/External Validity

The series included lectures from guest experts, journal club discussions, and hands-on data analysis labs.

We hope you’ll join us in learning more about sampling methodology!
